PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest Corporate Federal Credit Union and CU Business Group employees have raised money to help the Louisiana Corporate Credit Union in its time of need. "To us, they aren't just another corporate 2,000 miles away, they are family," said Northwest Corporate FCU President/CEO Kathy Garner. Northwest Corporate contributed $10,000 to the Corporate Credit Union Network donation fund that is being organized by U.S. Central, which will be passed on to the National Credit Union Foundation disaster relief fund. Inspired by the contribution Northwest Corporate and CU Business Group staffers who wanted to specifically help Louisiana Corporate employees collected $910, which the companies matched $2 for every dollar donated for a total of $2,730. The funds will be used to help offset living expenses for staff and their immediate families that have been relocated to Kansas. Louisiana Corporate is operating in contingency mode at U.S. Central's office in Lenexa, Kansas after their office in Metairie, Louisiana was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
