Chartway Keeps on Giving to Hurricane Relief Efforts

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.,- Chartway Federal Credit Union is pledging its support to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort in Houston. Chartway began taking monetary donations at all of its branches, including its eight in the Houston area, on Sept. 12, 2005 to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina who have been evacuated to Houston. Chartway will match the donations of its members dollar for dollar up to $1,000 per member to a total of $50,000. In addition, Chartway's Chairman of the Board, Lou Gull, Jr., and several Chartway volunteers flew to Houston to offer their assistance in the relief efforts. "Chartway prides itself on helping our members realize their dreams," Chartway President/CEO Ronald L. Burniske said. "We're extending this belief to the thousands of Americans whose dreams have been shattered by this catastrophe and are now trying to make ends meet in a city hundreds of miles from home. We encourage our members to help us reach our shared goal of $100,000 as quickly as possible." Internally, Chartway's C.A.R.E. Employee Outreach program is supporting internal fundraising efforts to provide assistance to employees and their immediate families directly affected by Hurricane Katrina.
