WATERLOO, Iowa – John Deere Community Credit Union Board Director Roosevelt Taylor has been presented the Cooperative Spirit Award. Taylor was also honored with a tree planting ceremony for the Leave A Legacy Iowa Arbor Day Celebration. Created in 1992 by the Iowa Credit Union League, the Cooperative Spirit Award recognizes individuals who have shown outstanding service, commitment and leadership in the credit union movement. Leave A Legacy Iowa honors local individuals who have given outstanding service to their community. In his 25 years of serving on JDCCU's board, Taylor has seen the credit union through numerous product and service enhancements and technological advances. Taylor originally ran for the board because he wanted to be involved with the credit union and help members. “I believe that you get out of something what you put into it,” said Taylor. “Working to strengthen credit unions everywhere is necessary to ensure their survival.” Taylor has served as Vice President for the Black Hawk Credit Union Chapter, served as a Delegate for the Iowa Credit Union League Annual Meeting, attends national credit union conferences every year and has served as a member of the Directors Educational Forum. While traveling around the country, Taylor also takes time to visit other credit unions. “Roosevelt has spent much of his life supporting his community and is a true model of service, leadership and commitment,” said JDCCU President/CEO Jean Trainor. “John Deere Community Credit Union is fortunate to have such a dedicated individual as part of our organization.”
