ARLINGTON, Va. – Linda Jekel, director of credit unions for Washington State, was approved unanimously by the NASCUS Board as chairwoman-elect. She fills the position left open when John Smith, former director of credit unions for Missouri resigned from the board following his termination as director by Gov. Matt Blunt, April 1. Sandy Branson, president/CEO, Missouri State CU has been appointed by Gov. Blunt for the director's position. Her appointment has to be confirmed by the Missouri Senate. In addition, NASCUS Chairman Roger Little appointed Harold Feeney, commissioner of the Texas Credit Union Department, to fill the remainder of Smith's three-year term on the NASCUS Board which expires in 2007. Jekel has been an employee of the Washington Division of Credit Unions since 1989. She was appointed Director in 2002. Feeney was appointed to the NASCUS Board for a one-year term in September 2004. He has served previous terms on the board from 1993-2000, including a term as chairman.
