WASHINGTON- Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) thanked CUNA and its member credit unions for “the leadership you have demonstrated in helping to advance bankruptcy abuse reform legislation,” in a letter addressed to Governmental Affairs Conference attendees. “As you know, the bankruptcy bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 17 and will be on the Senate floor this week,” he wrote in the Feb. 25 letter. “I am hopeful that we will finally get this bill done in this Congress.” The Senate Judiciary Committee member added that he regretted not being able to make the GAC. “My colleagues and I who firmly believe this legislation is necessary to correct the present imbalance in the bankruptcy system will again be relying on your grassroots strength to move the bill intact to the House, and then on to the President for his signature,” Grassley said. “We could not have achieved this rapid progress without your help.” -scooke@cutimes.com
