WASHINGTON – The Secondary Mortgage Market Enterprises Regulatory Improvement Act has taken another legislative step. The full House Financial Services Committee has been scheduled to meet on Oct. 8 to markup H.R. 2575. The bill, introduced by Capital Markets Subcommittee Chairman Richard Baker (R-La.), is designed to strengthen the regulatory structure of the housing GSEs, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
