SAN DIEGO, Calif. – As the temperature rises outside, employees at Cabrillo Credit Union are remaining cool inside since the credit union changed its dress code to shorts. As part of the $117 million credit union's efforts to conserve energy during a heatwave here, instead of standard business attire, staffers can now serve members wearing shorts with a logo shirt. "We are all too familiar with the rolling blackouts of the past and we want to help out. Besides, our staff members enjoy dressing casually for a while," said Cabrillo CU CEO Robin Lentz. This move is just the credit union's latest energy crunch concession. In 2000 and 2001, in an effort to help offset soaring energy costs, Cabrillo CU lent a helping hand to members by allowing them to skip auto loan payments for the month of August.
