SAN DIEGO, Calif. – As part of its mission to offer members more, San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union is offering discounted estate planning through a partnership with the Law Offices of Scott O'Mara. Estate planning requires legal documents, including a trust, which is designed to protect assets from lengthy probate and potential estate taxes. The discounted service is designed to help members in valuing their assets, determining whom and in what manner assets will be left to beneficiaries, and provides for financial and parental guidance of children in the event of death or incapacitation. "Our partnership with O'Mara comes as a direct result of our members' desire for such a service. We sought this firm out because of its strong reputation and history of serving municipal-related agencies and their employees, which is the primary make-up of our credit union membership," said Stuart Camblin, President/CEO. "For a low fee, our members are provided with tangible benefits, as well as the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are prepared in case of an unexpected event." This is the credit union's second foray into offering its members legal services. In August 2002 SDMCU became the first local credit union to offer members Pre-Paid Legal Services.
