HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Senate unanimously passed the State Credit Union Parity Bill on June 26 by a vote of 49-0. The bill now goes to the state House of Representatives for consideration. Among the provisions of the State Credit Union Parity Bill (S.B. 1222), it allows Pennsylvania state-chartered CUs to petition the Department of Banking for fields-of-membership, powers and the ability to form CUSOs as authorized federal credit unions by the Federal Credit Union Act. The State Credit Union Parity Bill's chief sponsors were Sen. Stewart Greenleaf (R-Bucks, Montgomery) and Sen. Jay Costa (D-Allegheny).
