WASHINGTON – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. released the Spanish language version of its "Money Smart" financial literacy program. Money Smart addresses consumers' basic financial education needs. Last September, NCUA became a partner with the FDIC in promoting the Money Smart program to credit unions. The agency at the time issued a Letter to Credit Unions encouraging them to consider Money Smart as part of their financial literacy efforts and their efforts to educate consumers on the benefits of joining a financial institution. The FDIC is also in the process of translating the Money Smart curriculum into Korean and Chinese. The program is available directly from FDIC and is free to users. There are no copyright restrictions and CUs can adapt the materials as they want, said NCUA.
