ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar recently hosted a roundtable discussion with national Hispanic faith-based leaders at NCUA's headquarters as part of the agency's "Access Across America" initiative. The Latino and Hispanic population is the fastest growing population in the United States, Dollar said, and chartering new credit unions and expanding existing institutions into these communities will provide credit unions to serve more people and provide financial services to previously unbanked people. Dr. Jesse Miranda, the founding president of AMEN, a National Alliance of Evangelical Ministries with a national platform that includes 7.7 million members; Reverend Luis A. Cortes, president of Nueva Esperanza, a faith-based non-profit based in Philadelphia; Reverend Daniel De Leon, senior pastor of Templo Calvanio in Santa Ana, California, the largest bilingual Latino church in the nation; and Reverend Lupita Navar, a pastor with the Assemblies of God church attended the meeting.
