DUBUQUE, Iowa – Dutrac Community CU and Dupaco Community CU in Dubuque were among the list of 25 lenders named by the Iowa Financial Authority as being the top community lenders participating in the IFA's FirstHome program in 2001. FirstHome is an affordable mortgage financing program for qualified homebuyers in Iowa. IFA issues tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds to fund the program. The mortgage loans are provided through more than 300 participating lenders throughout the state. In 2001, more than 1,200 borrowers purchased their homes using FirstHome. The total amount loaned in 2001 was $83.2 million, nearly twice the amount loaned the previous year. The top 25 FirstHome lenders were announced at the Iowa Mortgage Bankers Association conference in Cedar Rapids. The lenders were presented with a certificate and letter of recognition from Gov. Tom Vilsack.
