WASHINGTON-CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica recently participated in a press conference to promote the CARE Act (S. 1924), which includes the creation of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) as a key part. IDAs help low-income individuals to save money for items like a first time home purchase, pursing educational goals, or starting a business. Mica appeared in the press conference with co-sponsors Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and Senator Evan Bayh (D-Ind.); California Assemblywoman Dion Aroner (D-Calif.), chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee; Corporation for Enterprise Development Founder and Chairman Robert Friedman; and IDA accountholders Stacie Mitchell and Mary Cefarro.
