ARLINGTON, Va. – NASCUS management notified Rep. Robert Ney (R-Ohio) of the association's support of H.R. 2796, the Federal Home Loan Bank Membership Act of 2001, which the congressman introduced. H.R. 2796 would allow state-chartered privately insured credit unions to belong to the Federal Home Loan Bank. "This legislation is needed to correct an inequity which exists in current law for state-chartered credit unions that are privately insured," NASCUS President Doug Duerr wrote in a letter to Ney.
