EAST

Wright Patmam Congressional Federal Credit Union, Washington, D.C., announced the election of James Kaelin as chairman of the board. Patricia Nelson Nugent was also elected as vice chair. Kaelin, chief information officer for the Office of the Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives, began his career with the House in 1988 working in the Office of the Doorkeeper. He was been a credit union volunteer since 1998. Nugent, principal at the OB-C Group LLC in Washington, began her career as a member of the senior staff for the Committee on Ways and Means and has been a credit union volunteer since 1998.

HarborOne Credit Union, Brockton, Mass., announced the addition of Eunice Depina to the residential mortgage team. Depina is responsible for the origination of loans for purchase, refinance and construction of residential homes providing assistance to customers at the MultiCultural Banking Center located at the credit union's Legion Parkway office. She recently served as an assistant branch manager at Citizens Bank in Boston.

SOUTH

Local Government Federal Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., announced that Maurice Smith, president of the credit union was named a 2009 financial impact leader by Business Leader Magazine. In addition to his efforts over the past decade to grow the credit union from one with $72 million in assets and 33,680 members to one with $969 million in assets and 179,000 members, Smith was recognized for helping North Carolina communities prosper.

PrimeWay Federal Credit Union, Houston, announced Allen Nail as the new vice president of operations. Nail began his professional career in 1989 with Disney World. A former Marine, he brought his discipline and expertise in facilities to credit unions in 1999 when he joined Firstmark Credit Union, San Antonio, as a branch manager and subsequently developed into leading the organization's branch operations. Nail also studied organizational development at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

MIDWEST

St. Vrain Valley Credit Union, Longmont, Colo., announced the promotion of Susan Salazar to vice president of operations. Salazar has 14 years experience holding various operational positions at the credit union. Salazar oversees the entire operations of both branches of the credit union including a new call center and also manages the credit union's partnership with the Credit Union Service Network. CUSN allows credit union members to access their accounts at over 3,800 locations nationwide. She also manages a partnership with the CO-OP Network which enables credit union members to access 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.

Veridian Credit Union, Waterloo, Iowa, announced the appointment of Elizabeth Caven to fill the recently vacated position on its board of directors. Caven will serve on the board until the annual meeting in spring 2010. To remain on the board, she must then run for re-election. She has owned several successful small businesses in Des Moines, Iowa, and currently serves as the marketing director of a national, nonprofit organization.

WEST

Numerica Credit Union, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, announced the hiring of Kylie Trout as the new branch manager for the Coeur d'Alene branch. Trout has 10 years of management experience in both the hospitality and financial industries. She graduated with an associate's degree from North Idaho College in 2000.

Santa Ana Federal Credit Union, Santa Ana, Calif., announced that longtime board member John Burk has decided to step aside after more than 50 years of volunteering. Burk joined the credit union in 1954 and was the 286th member. The same year, he became a member of the credit committee and in 1959 he became a board member. Burk has served as chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary of the executive board of directors during his tenure at the credit union.

Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., announced that Deirdre Thompson is the new manager of its local telephone Member Service Center. Thompson has 10 years of support center management experience. She was most recently a deposits contact center site leader with Bank of America. In her new role, Thompson will manage, plan, coordinate and administer day-to-day operations of the call center.

Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, Ariz., announced the promotion of several employees. Lee Brice was promoted from vice president to senior vice president, strategic direction and operations. Jim Lavery was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president, contact center operations. Jennifer Godel was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president, human resources, training and development and quality. Gary Laieski was promoted from vice president to vice president/chief information officer. Ann Prettyman was promoted from senior director to assistant vice president, accounting/payroll. Stephen Jordan was promoted from senior director to assistant vice president, finance/secondary marketing.
