According to a new U.S. Census Bureau report, most baby boomers have some college education, are married and are white.
The Census report analyzed 2006 data and found that an estimated 78 million people were born between 1946 and 1964. The group makes up roughly 26.1% of the population. The data showed that while 14% of boomers were born in other countries, nearly 86% were born in the United States.
The five states with the largest number of boomers are California, Texas, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania. The counties with the heaviest concentration of boomers are in Los Angeles County, Calif., Cook County, Ill., Harris County, Texas, Maricopa County, Ariz., and Orange County, Calif.
