SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Eighteen more financial institutions have signed on as users of MShift Inc.'s carrier- and device-independent mobile banking technologies.

Twelve of those new users are credit unions. They are the $1.2 billion Arizona State CU in Phoenix; the $228 million Associated CU of Texas in Texas City; the $506 million Boeing Wichita CU in Kansas; the $189 million Bronco FCU in Franklin, Va.; the $1.2 billion CFE FCU in Orlando, Fla.; the $260 million FivePoint CU in Nederland, Texas; the $343 million Heritage Trust FCU in Charleston, S.C.; the $577 million Knoxville TVA Employees CU in Tennessee; the $229 million Neches FCU in Port Neches, Texas; the $384 million Proponent FCU in Nutley, N.J.; the $1.3 billion Service CU in Portsmouth, N.H.; the $279 million Shell FCU in Deer Park, Texas; and the $878 million Silver Schools CU in Las Vegas.

MShift now has more than 90 clients and said it is working with Apple to offer an interface with the iPhone beginning in mid-July.

Its latest offering is active messaging, which allows financial institutions to send real-time alerts via text, e-mail, IVR and fax.

"Not only does this service make banking more convenient, but it also provides users with additional peace of mind. For example, active messaging is a great security feature - users can choose to be notified every time a transaction, of almost any kind, is being made on their account," said Bill Stavros, vice president of marketing at Proponent FCU.

Stavros said MShift also "has been very responsive and flexible. For example, after launch, we had a member, who mentioned how much they loved the new service, inquire about adding a new active messaging alert, for failed payments. Within days, MShift had this new alert up and running."
