WASHINGTON -- NAFCU Associate Director of Legislative Affairs Javier Sanchez has been elected chairman of the Military Saves National Partners Committee.

Sanchez, a former U.S. Marine who joined NAFCU in 2007, specializes in defense credit union issues and provides advocacy on behalf of credit unions on financial services and other issues. Prior to joining NAFCU, Sanchez served as director of government relations for the Armed Forces Foundation.

"We are very proud of Javier and believe his military background will help him excel at spearheading the Military Saves program through the National Partners Committee," said NAFCU President Fred R. Becker.

The National Partners Committee supports the Military Saves program through the active involvement of Military Saves National Partners who are dedicated to the goal of financial vitality for all American service members and their families.

The committee solicits participation from professional membership associations, trade associations, corporations, and other for-profit organizations, non-profit organizations and individuals, all of whom are dedicated to joining with their peers in a global partnership to foster the Military Saves mission.

Organized in 2007, the founding committee members include: American Bankers Association, American Logistics Association, American Society of Military Comptrollers, In Charge, NAFCU, and National Military Family Association.
