LAKE MARY, Fla. — Harland Financial Solutions says it has added the secured online backup and recovery services of EVault Inc. to the core processor's Enterprise Services Center offerings.

HFS says no additional hardware is required for client credit unions to use EVault's InfoStage disk-to-disk data protection software to back up data online and stop using tape backups.

Using either the Internet or other networks, the data is transmitted online in encrypted form, accessible only to the creator of the password, according to Emeryville, Calif.-based EVault, a Seagate Technology subsidiary that provides data-protection solutions to more than 8,500 customers worldwide.

The solution allows administrators to manage multiple online backup and recovery processes from a single workstation via a secure Web browser, HFS says.

"This automated process, coupled with detailed reporting, gives regulators a clear view of the chain of custody of stored information and enables financial institutions to meet regulations governing electronic storage and access to confidential data," says Mike Retherford, vice president of outsourced services for the Credit Union Core Systems Group at Harland Financial Solutions.
