GREENVILLE, S.C. — Whether area residents want to record the emotions of their special day or their child's mischievous grin they turn to S.C. Telco Federal Credit Union Marketing Coordinator Melody Alem??n.
Alem??n, who enjoys all types of art from painting to drawing, has had a special place in her heart for photography since 1999 when her first photography course turned into several courses.
"It was just supposed to be one elective class for graduation but I liked it so much I kept taking more," said Alem??n. "Then later on when I had children I took their pictures and took pictures for a friend's wedding and it's just grown from there. Every client has been through referral."
While she personally enjoys taking black and white fine art images, the bulk of her clients ask her to snap everything from weddings and engagement portraits to children and family portraits.
"I love it all but between weddings and portraits I really prefer portraits," said Alem??n. "I enjoy people and the portraits give me a chance to discover who they are on film in a less formal setting. I like getting to know them."
An "old school" photographer, she still shoots in film and hasn't given into the digital camera movement.
"I haven't gotten to that point yet," said Alem??n. "I just find that especially for portraits, really the color of digital just doesn't compare to film."
