ARLINGTON, Va. — For its latest Flash Report, NAFCU looked into the popularity and uses credit unions have for online training.
Most credit unions responding to NAFCU's survey (89%) use some type of online training. "Of the credit unions that do not, half indicated that they intend to do so within the next 12 to 24 months," the Flash reported.
Ease of use was "very important" to 85% of the credit unions currently employing online training. Eighty-one percent also put total cost in that category. Other purchase criteria credit unions considered as "very important" included timely content updates (80%), ease of implementation (75%), breadth of the course offering (72%), vendor expertise/reputation (64%), toll-free technical assistance (41%), and that the employees receive certification (17%).
Compliance related modules were a popular selection for credit unions asked what they would "likely" buy if they planned to offer online training in the next year or two with 71%. More than half, 54%, said they would "likely" purchase privacy related modules. General skills modules came in at 41%, human resources at 28%, and computer application based modules at 25%.
The majority (66%) of credit unions planning to continue or begin using online training for their staff in the next 12-24 months, said they would like to be charged a flat fee for the entire credit union. About a quarter (22%) said they would rather follow a pay as you go program. Another 7% wanted a flat fee for each facility and the remaining 5% said they would prefer to pay a flat fee for each employee.
