EUGENE, Ore. --The University of Oregon has named Oregon Community Credit Union Recruiter Cheryl Collins, Recruiter of the Year.
The award, which is presented to the recruiter who contributed the most to on-campus recruiting events during the previous year, was announced at the UO Career Center's annual networking brunch.
According to UO Career Center Assistant Director of Employer Relations Ronnie Casanova, more than 60% of Oregon Community's new employees were recruited from the University of Oregon last year.
Collins has served as a recruiter at Oregon Community for more than two years. As a recruiter, she is responsible for coordinating the recruiting and staffing process for all open positions. In her tenure with the credit union, Collins has hired more than 140 employees and conducted more than 1,000 interviews.
"I view my work with the Career Center as an extension of Oregon Community's commitment to community outreach," said Collins. "We're able to give back to the community by providing good jobs to UO students and alumni. At the same time, we're securing talented new employees to serve our membership. It's a win-win for everyone involved."
