ARLINGTON, Va. — NAFCU's Senior Vice President of Communications Jay Morris aired on Washington's WTOP radio warning online Christmas shoppers of the dangers that lurk in cyberspace.
NAFCU has set up a radio media tour, through Media Link, of area stations. "What we are focusing on is online security and identity theft. We felt it's a good time of year with everyone shopping for the holidays," he explained. Morris also pointed out that there is a good tie-in with credit unions and other financial institutions being prime subjects of phishing expeditions.
NAFCU President/CEO Fred Becker filled in for the rest of the tour–themed 'Tis the Season-To Be Careful–last Wed., Dec. 6, with a drive time radio storm. The plan was to book about a dozen interviews during two hours of "drive time."
"This is all part of a broader effort to teach consumers to protect themselves online," Morris added, noting NAFCU has printed up statements stuffers on the subjects for members to purchase.
