WASHINGTON — Former NCUA Board Member Geoff Bacino started work as a member of the Federal Housing Finance Board July 28.

The Senate met in executive session July 26 to confirm a number of nominees to federal government posts, including Bacino whose term on the FHFB expires Feb. 27, 2013. Bacino is a unique figure, having been appointed by two different presidents of two different political parties.

"Obviously it's a hurdle I didn't clear last time," Bacino said, referring to his recess appointment at NCUA that never became a full term. "I look forward to getting over there and getting to work." He was sworn in and began work July 28. Also of interest to credit unions, Frederic S. Mishkin was confirmed to the Federal Reserve Board and Edmund Moy was confirmed as director of the U.S. Mint. Both shared their confirmation hearings with Bacino.
