ALBANY – Paying bills online paid off for one lucky Capital Communications Federal Credit Union member.
Thomas Rotondaro recently won a $500 Home Depot Gift Card in a nationwide promotion sponsored by Digital Insight, the credit union's Internet banking software provider. The promotion was held to encourage online bill payment, which is becoming more popular with people who want a more convenient way to pay bills and a more secure way to send payments through the mail.
"It is our goal to stay on the cutting edge of technology to make sure our members have products and services that make their banking experience easier and more convenient," said Robert Roemer, vice president of information systems at Capital Communications FCU.
Capital Communications FCU offers Bill Payment as a free service to members who use it to pay at least one bill per month. The credit union also offers Bill Presentment, which allows members to receive e-mail alerts about their bills instead of paper bills in the mail.
"It's one less thing to worry about and one less thing to shred," Roemer said.
