Connecticut CU Association Names Former Minnesota League Leader Chandler as CEO

WALLINGFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut Credit Union Association looked to a former league leader to fill its vacant corner office. The CTCUA has named former Minnesota CU Network President/CEO Kevin Chandler as its new president/CEO. Chandler left the Minnesota league in May. The league would not comment on the circumstances surrounding his departure. Chandler led the Minnesota CU Network for nine years. He is an attorney and former state senator. "The Connecticut Credit Union Association is everything a league president dreams of. Dedicated members, solid credit unions, and the will to make a difference," said Chandler. Chandler replaces Art Corey, who spent two years as CEO before departing this past May to practice financial services law with the Connecticut law firm Tyler Cooper. "We were looking for somebody involved in the credit union movement on a national level that had achieved good things for a league previously, and that could bring great things to Connecticut," said Connecticut CU Association Chairman Kathy Chartier. The CTCUA cited Chandler's success in joining the two leagues in Minnesota into one as an example of his leadership. Chartier noted that CTCUA did not use a recruitment firm. It placed ads in the trade press and a board committee built a list of qualified candidates. Chandler is relocating from Minnesota. His first day on the job is Aug. 1.
