MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Mid-Atlantic Corporate is matching the $10,000 its employees have raised for the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Katrina relief. The $20,000 donation will be sent to the National Credit Union Foundation's National Disaster Relief Fund. Corporate employees were able to donate sick or vacation days, and have them converted into dollar amounts, for donation. "Our employees really responded to the option to donate leave days," said Janice Goodling, VP, Human Resources. "It enabled them to donate a larger dollar figure than they might have been able to give otherwise." Interestingly, an additional $400 was raised by Administrative Assistant Connie Abbott of the corporate's Investment department. Abbott, an avid crafter, sold hand-made blankets, then forwarded the funds to a Red Cross distribution center in Baton Rouge where they are providing supplies directly to those affected by the disaster.
