COON RAPIDS, Minn. - The Minnesota Credit Union Network at its recent annual meeting, recognized the years of volunteer work Ron Nevala, chairman of Anoka Hennepin CU, has given the credit union. Nevala as served six years as chairman of the 11,000-member, $90 million CU. He was acknowledged for his instrumental leadership role in the dramatic and continued growth of AHCU and his dedicated support of credit union causes at the local, state and national levels. When Nevala was first elected to AHCU's Board in 1996, the credit union had 6,900 members and $20 million in assets. He also led the development of AHCU's Youth Group. Now in its fifth year, the program features mentoring and education elements. CUNA Chairman Dick Ensweiler who keynoted the conference's opening session, presented Nevala with an award in recognition of his contributions.
