The $148 million River City Federal Credit Union in San Antonio is now offering its 16,000 members a bi-lingual version of its iPad mobile banking app.

River City FCU worked with Malauzai Software Inc. of Austin, Texas, to develop the customized app in less than a month, the company and credit union said.

The Texas credit union, which has been using mobile solutions from Malauzai since last summer, said the mirrored Spanish version of its tablet app will help it compete.

They had launched a Spanish-language smartphone app last October and said the tablet version was developed this time in 17 business days.

“With a significant number of Spanish-speaking members, the ability to offer an app with the same capabilities in both English and Spanish has set us apart in a very competitive credit union market,” said River City FCU President/CEO Kim Heinze.

“To our knowledge, we are the only credit union in our market offering a Spanish-language mobile app,” Heinze said.

“Demand for accessing data on a mobile device is increasing by the day,” said Robb Gaynor, chief product officer of Malauzai. “The experience River City FCU members will have on the iPad app is a unique expansion of mobile banking capabilities rather than simply a replication of a smartphone app.”

Malauzai said it serves about 20 credit unions and 70 community banks.
