Morrison will discuss the impact of the Durbin amendment, debit cards and interchange, as well as the broader scope of consumers moving from big banks to credit unions.
“Bank of America and other large financial institutions have started charging fees for debit cards following legislation championed last year by Senator Durbin,” Editor-in-Chief Sarah Snell Cooke said. “Consumers are feeling the effects and they clearly do not like it so they’re creating a stir about moving their money to community institutions, like credit unions. Whether the efforts of Bank Transfer Day and others really push consumers to move remains to be seen, but it could be a huge opportunity for credit unions.”
The show begins at 5 p.m. CST. Listen live online at www.wtdy.com/index.
