Orellana Leaving California Regulator Post
Erick Orellana will resign Sept. 30 as deputy commissioner of the California Department of Business Oversight’s Division of Credit Unions, the agency said.
He served as deputy commissioner since January 2014.
The CDBO confirmed Orellana’s departure and characterized it as a "personal, professional decision."
"The Department wishes Mr. Orellana well as he pursues new opportunities, and he will be missed," the Department wrote in a statement about his departure.
Prior to joining the department, Orellana served more than eight years as president/CEO of the $72 million Nikkei Credit Union, in Gardena, Calif., which was founded in 1952 to serve the financial needs of Japanese Americans.
He also served for more than four years as president/CEO of the former Southern California Postal Credit Union. The $71 million cooperative in Long Beach, Calif., changed its name to PostCity Financial Credit Union this year.
