Credit Union Members Top Dogs on Food Network
Mark’s Gourmet Dogs, a recipient of a business loan from MSU Federal Credit Union were recently selected as the winners on the Food Network’s series, “Food Court Wars.”
Mark and Krysta McGee, owners of the eatery, competed on the show to win a food court space for a year at the Lansing Mall in Lansing, Mich., beating out Grand Grillin for the top prize, according to the $2.6 billion MSUFCU in East Lansing, Mich.
Working with the Small Business Development Center at Lansing Community College, the pair created a business plan, and with the help of MSUFCU and the startUP loan, the McGees had the chance to make their dreams a reality.
The credit union introduced the startUP loans in 2012. The program is open to entrepreneurs who want to start businesses in the Michigan counties of Clinton, Eaton and Ingram. Loans are available up to $15,000.
“MSU Federal Credit Union’s startUP loan was exactly what we needed to get the doors open,” Mark McGee said.
Patrick McPharlin, MSUFCU’s president/CEO, said the credit union is hoping to provide the same opportunities for other business ventures in the Greater Lansing area.
“We’re thrilled to see our members achieve their goals and dreams by getting their businesses off the ground,” he noted. “By offering our startUP loan to Mark’s Gourmet Dogs, we helped enable them to grow their business.”
