Culinary Excursion: Onsite at ACUC
SAN FRANCISCO - Tuesday's agenda at America's Credit Union Conference included an optional tour to one of the city's most popular landmarks, the Ferry Building. The historic hub serves as a showcase for some of the Bay Area's best artisans, and boasts a farmers market full of local, organic, produce along with carefully crafted preserves, pickles and pastries.
The group of 51 spouses and guests was hosted by epicurean concierges, who provided behind-the-scenes stories from the region's world renowned, forward thinking food communities. The tour was split into four subgroups, each with its own guide.
One group examined a poster describing the history of the ferry building, one of the few city structures to survive the famous 1906 earthquake.
This group enjoyed a delectable chili from Prather Rach Meat Co. The vendor offered some cheeky souvenirs for sale.
These groups sampled bread from the famous Acme Bread Co. and cheese from Cowgirl Creamery.
The tour kept the cheese slicer busy.
The Ferry building's farmer's market offered a variety of fresh produce.
