Clobes to Follow McPharlin as MSUFCU CEO
Patrick McPharlin will be retiring from the $2.6 billion Michigan State University Federal Credit Union and succeeded by current EVP/COO April Clobes, the 183,400-member credit union announced Thursday.
McPharlin has been with MSUFCU, now the world’s largest university-affiliated credit union, since 1973 and at the helm there for the past 14 years. He was NAFCU’s CEO of the Year in 2010.
The board said the succession from McPharlin to Clobes will take place next March and is the culmination of a multi-year plan.
“Through his dedication to serving the members and our community, Pat has led the credit union to a stellar record of growth and success,” said John Brick, MSUFCU’s board chairman. “We appreciate his leadership and development of an outstanding culture of service focused on making a difference in people’s lives.”
Clobes has been with MSUFCU for 18 years. She was named to CU Times Women to Watch in February 2013.
“April is an exemplary leader with a great passion for helping our members, employees, and community to be financially successful and achieve their goals and dreams. She has been integrally involved in virtually all aspects of credit union operations and has the full support of the board of directors,” Brick said in the MSUFCU announcement. “We are confident she will take the credit union to the next level.”
