Cherry Blossom Run Attracts, Raises Thousands
Some 15,000 runners participated Sunday in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals were the big winners.
The hospitals received a donation of $487,000 from Credit Union Miracle Day, including $111,781 donated online by some 282 credit union members, runners, their families and friends. PSCU helped lead the effort again this year with matching donations and events leading up to the big donation.
Quick energy in the form of a favorite fruit was at the ready.
Participants in the men's elite division get things going.
First to finish was Stephen Sambu of Kenya at 45:29.
Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia was the fastest female runner at 52:05.
CUNA Mutual had two teams of runners and about 30 volunteers at the race on Sunday. Here, participants show off a big check for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
