GPOFCU Names Volunteer New CEO
The $202 million GPO Federal Credit Union in New Hartford, N.Y., has hired a hospital administrator as its new president/CEO.
Nicholas Mayhew served on the credit union’s board for the past 25 years before he was selected to take the helm from John Prumo, who is retiring as GPO’s president/CEO after more than 40 years, the credit union said Tuesday.
Mayhew most recently was vice president and chief financial officer at Rome Memorial Hospital in Rome, N.Y.
There he was responsible more than 400 employees, his new employer said, and involved in strategic planning, designing benefits packages, managing the information technology department and administering daily operations of multiple physician practices, his new employer said.
During his 25 years on the GPO Board of Directors, Mayhew also was involved in strategic planning and had served as vice chairman while Prumo served as president/CEO.
Leo Callari, board chairman, said, “John provided outstanding leadership to the credit union. He is recognized for building the credit union into a $200+ million institution serving 25,000 members with six branch locations. We are confident that GPO will continue to grow and thrive under Nick’s leadership as well.”
Mayhew said, “I have utmost confidence in the GPO team and that we will continue to be a leading credit union in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties.”
