Bangor Federal Credit Union is mourning the loss of founder and former CEO Dennis Soucy, who died Saturday at the age of 83.
As one of the founding members of St. John’s Credit Union, now Bangor FCU, he served as president from 1956 until his retirement in 2008.
Soucy is he is credited with implementing changes that would help better position the Bangor, Maine, credit union to grow. Currently the credit union has more than $124 million in assets and serves some 14,035 members.
According to the Bangor Daily News, Soucy served on the Bangor City Council for six terms and was one of the few residents to serve three terms as mayor.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Barton Soucy, four children and many grandchildren.
