Jim McCormack, president/CEO of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, has been named one of the three recipients of the 2014 Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement, the National Credit Union Foundation said Friday.
McCormack will be honored with the other recipients at a dinner hosted by the NCUF on Feb. 24 during the GAC in Washington, D.C., the NCUF said.
McCormack, who plans to retire Dec. 31, first joined the industry in 1971 and his contributions include leading the creation of payday lending alternatives, state credit card processing and ATM initiatives and establishing a statewide credit union awareness campaign, the NCUF said, and he also has been an advocate for credit unions statewide and on the national level, the NCUF said.
Jim has done outstanding work at the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association throughout his career,” said John Gregoire, chair of NCUF Wegner Awards Selection Committee and president of The ProCon Group in Madison, Wis. “Countless credit union members have been positively affected by his work and is evidenced by the passion and commitment of his numerous supporters.”
“The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association has become one of the leading credit union trade associations in the country because of Jim McCormack's leadership and talent,” said Raymond Brunner, PCUA director and president/CEO of the $192 million WEST-AIRCOMM FCU in Beaver, Pa.
Three of next year’s four Wegner Award winners have been named and the fourth – also for lifetime achievement – will be announced in the next week, the NCUF said.
Online registration for dinner tickets will be available later this year at the NCUF website.
