Franklin Trust FCU Expands to Community Charter
The $42 million Franklin Trust Federal Credit Union in Hartford, Conn., has become a community charter credit union.
The 5,800-member Franklin Trust had been limited to serving SEGs but now is open to membership to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Hartford County, the credit union announced last week.
Founded in 1934, Franklin Trust said it is the nation’s fourth-oldest federal credit union and serves members from two branches and two satellite offices in high schools in Hartford.
“Over the years, we have had countless individuals come in to our offices wanting to become member-owners, but they couldn’t join because they didn’t belong to one of our groups,” said Franklin Trust CEO Kiernan J. Dubay.
“With our branch locations and expanded remote access platforms, it made sense to make our outstanding products and services more readily available to meet the growing demand,” Dubay said in the credit union’s announcement.
