The $154 million Mountain Credit Union in Waynesville, N.C., is joining in this year to help the Henderson County Education Foundation help its local schools.
The 20,000-member Mountain CU will be partnering with local businesses to help sell “BOGO” cards from local merchants. Students will sell the cards, featuring offers from local merchants, for $10 each during the coming school year.
The sponsorship will partner Mountain Credit Union with several other community businesses and organizations such as RelyLocal Hendersonville and Park Ridge Health.
“I personally appreciate the effort of everyone involved because I have an eight year old daughter that attends school in Henderson County and another who will start kindergarten next year,” said Chris Angel, the credit union’s business development director.
“I enjoy participating in all of our community outreach efforts but because of its support of our schools and our local businesses at the same time, this program is truly near and dear to our hearts,” he said.
The HCEF works to enhance education in the Henderson County community, including contributing more than $140,000 in scholarships in the past year.
