The $1.7 billion Founders Federal Credit Union in Lancaster, S.C., has opened its 22nd in-school branch, this time in the Academy for Teaching and Learning in nearby Chester, S.C.
The branch will be open for deposits every Thursday morning and each student who starts an account becomes a member of the 196,200-member Founders.
The new branch is the credit union’s sixth in Chester County elementary schools, said community relations coordinator Brian Bass. He said nearly 60 students made deposits on opening morning on July 25.
“This is a great partnership between Founders and Chester County School District,” Bass said. “Students learn such valuable life skills through saving money.”
Outside of school, Founders operates 24 offices and two service centers in South and North Carolina and said it plans to open a 25th branch this year.
