Dignitaries at the Diamond
Some Beantown brass showed up to help the City of Boston Credit Union’s recent Field of Dreams Wiffle Ball Tournament get off to a good start at the Boston Athletic Club.
The tournament is a fundraiser for diabetes awareness and the Joslin Diabetes Center and was created by Boston Police Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald and his wife, Leigh Ann, to thank the Joslin Diabetes Center for the care given their daughter, Caroline.
The Field of Dreams Wiffle Ball Tournament – held the weekend of May 11 – featured games for kids and adults and has raised nearly $200,000 in its first four years, said the $305 million City of Boston CU.
Prominent visitors who stopped by to get things going on the diamonds that weekend included Mayor Thomas Menino and Police Commissioner Ed Davis.
