Bankers for a Day
Fourth-graders from Skyview Elementary School in Oakdale, Minn., got to be “Bankers for a Day” recently at the Woodbury, Minn., office of the $559 million Postal Credit Union. Their visit included learning about the teller line, member service, loans and the contact center. They also had the chance to interview for employment and learned how member-owned credit unions differ from other financial service providers.
“The students ask great questions and are interested in how we operate. They really like going behind the teller line and working in the drive-through. It’s a big hit with the students every year,” said Woodbury Branch Manager Liz Fleischhacker.
The visits have been going on for six years. PCU staff also visit the school several times during the school year to talk to students about financial literacy topics such as budgeting and money management.
