Making March Madness Matter
In conjunction with the ACC Tournament, the $1.2 billion Local Government FCU in Raleigh, N.C., holds a yearly food drive benefitting The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. This year's goal was 1,500 pounds and the staff beat that mark, gathering 1,639 pounds of food, which is the equivalent of 1,380 meals. Staff members donate canned goods to a box labeled with their favorite ACC team. The Miami Hurricanes won the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball crown but the champion food gatherers were North Carolina Tarheels fans.
