House Committee Hearing Features FDIC Witnesses

Wednesday’s House Financial Services Committee hearing on regulatory burden features four FDIC witnesses but none from the NCUA.

However, according to a committee staffer, credit unions will have their say on the topic before the committee.

Jeff Emerson, deputy staff director for communications, told Credit Union Times Tuesday the committee does plan to have a hearing focused on the regulatory burdens facing credit unions, but no date has yet been set.

Wednesday’s hearing, titled “State of Community Banking: Is the Current Regulatory Environment Adversely Affecting Community Financial Institutions?” will focus on the FDIC’s Community Banking Study released last December, Emerson said.

It will begin at 10 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building.
