The $39 million Johnson City Federal Credit Union in Johnson City, Tenn., said it has expanded its service area to take in two more East Tennessee counties.
In addition to Washington County, the 7,300-member JCFCU is now also open to people who live, work, attend school or worship in Unicoi and Carter counties, the credit unions.
“We’ve had requests from neighbors and friends of members to join. So we applied to expand our charter and we’re excited that it was approved. We look forward to serving our new members,” said JCFCU President/CEO Kevin Jones.
The credit union has expanded its membership several times since it opened in 1949 to serve Pet Dairy employees. Jones said JCFCU now employees 20 people at three locations in Washington County and that he hopes to open branches in Unicoi and Carter counties in the near future.
“We feel like our customer service is second to none. We offer a quick response and turnaround on loan inquiries, and because we are smaller than many financial institutions, we really get to know our members. We offer a ‘Second Chance Checking Account’ for those who may have been turned down at other places. It goes along with our philosophy of people helping people,” Jones said.
