Mobile Marketing Strategies Coming to the Fore: Survey

More than 80% of marketers expect their organization to increase focus on mobile marketing strategies this year, according to the 2013 Aquent/American Marketing Association survey.

The online survey of 2,620 marketing professionals also found that organizations also plan to focus their marketing efforts in the following areas: social media (76%), marketing automation (75%), social networking sites (73%), search engine marketing-organic (68%), blogs (63%),  search engine marketing-pay per click (59%), email campaigns (56%), webcasts (56%), and grassroots promotions (54%).

Even though 44% expect their marketing budgets to increase this year, up from 36% last year, 54% of marketers feel unequipped to handle new trends and technologies and 53% feel understaffed to meet their organization’s marketing objectives, according to the survey.

Despite these challenges, 56% of marketers are satisfied with their jobs, while 32% were dissatisfied with their positions.

Other than salary and health care benefits, marketers indicated that clearly defined opportunities for advancement and the ability to telecommute or work from home occasionally were key job satisfaction drivers.

Moreover, thanks to a slow but steady economic recovery, seven out of 10 marketing professionals expect to receive a salary increase this year.
