O’Neill Replaces Hughes on NASCUS Board

NASCUS announced Wednesday that Chairman Orla Beth Peck has appointed Connecticut regulator Mary Ellen O'Neill to the organization’s Board of Directors. O’Neill is currently director of the Financial Institutions Division for the Connecticut Department of Banking.

Peck, the supervisor of credit unions for the Utah Department of Financial Institutions, called O’Neill “a respected veteran of state financial regulation” and said NASCUS is grateful to have her wealth of experience on the board.

O'Neill's term will end in September 2015. She is filling the unexpired term held by Mary Hughes, Financial Institutions Bureau chief, Idaho Department of Finance. Jenny Champagne, vice president of Regulatory Development and Government Relations, told Credit Union Times that Hughes “had priorities at the Idaho agency that led her to the decision” to relinquish her board position.

"NASCUS expresses its appreciation to Mary Hughes for her service to NASCUS both as a board member and as executive committee member. We look forward to working with her in the future and we are grateful for the time and energy she has contributed to NASCUS and the state system,” said NASCUS President/CEO Mary Martha Fortney.
