The $972 million, Albany, N.Y.-based CAP COM Federal Credit Union wants to get young adults laughing as they learn how to manage their money.

Comedian and financial blogger Colin Ryan will be the star of the credit union’s upcoming money management workshop, “Dollars and Sense,” scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Albany Marriott, the credit union said.

At the free workshop, which is intended for young adults ages 15 to 25, Ryan will discuss personal finance in a fun, interactive manner and teach four key skills needed to build a successful career, CAP COM FCU said.

The credit union will also hold a companion workshop for parents at the Albany Marriott on Tuesday, which will focus on how to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form.

“Young people need to learn the basics of money management,” said Kim Donah, a certified college planning specialist for CAP COM FCU’s College Bound Program. “And, most parents need help building a smart plan to pay for college. This special night of workshops, prizes and entertainment will meet everyone’s needs.”

The workshops will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in separate ballrooms at the hotel, located at 189 Wolf Road in Albany, N.Y. Young adults and parents can register for the workshops online.
