Adopting deployed soldiers was among the charitable activities that the staff at the $252 million, 50,300-member American 1 Credit Union of Jackson, Mich., took on this holiday season. The employees donated enough money to fill and ship 41 boxes to send to two units now overseas. Other activities included helping children at a local elementary school help decorate 600 Christmas cards to send to soldiers, adopting two area National Guard families and buying gifts for 15 teenagers at a homeless shelter.
